Yeats, the Great Irish Voice
Yeats and Symbolist TheatrePerformance values include a colorful cosmic exhibition of
special effects (lights) evoking the beginning of the universe
with an incantatory speech by a mature woman (Dawn), an intimate
scene in which the virgin speaks to her confidante of her fearful yet passionate attraction to her father's rival, and the climactic Apollo-like appearance of John the Baptist's radiantly illuminated disembodied head singing as a symbol of masculine love.

SynopsisRuben Crosscutt was not your typical butler, a proper old gent in black tails. The awesome Aussie arrived sporting athletic shorts and a t-shirt. Blue-eyed, virile, tanned- he was no sexless , wooden servant...
Which came as a shock to divorcee Blaire Thomlin, who'd won Ruben's services in a contest for two whole weeks!
Having a man around the house again was daunting. But Ruben cooked, cleaned and catered to Blaire's every desire... including a few not in his description. He turned Blaire's life around and made her start to believe in love once more. Until the ugly rumors about his past surfaced.....
Different, but really good

Fantastic portrait of a leaderIn my opinion this book describes in vivid detail why our citizen-soldiers won the war against the professional soldiers of Germany. This is a great read for an up-close perspective on one ordinary man's willingness to give all for his men and his country.
In reunions after the war, the men showed their continued loyalty and respect for Mac when they presented him with a plaque commemorating the "Battlin' Blue Bastards."

A Must Readpeople mapping out their career goals and planning where they
would like to be five, ten, or twenty years from now.
Although I'm from an earlier generation and have accomplished
certain career goals, I'm still in the work force, thus I can
still learn from this book. What registers with me is that it
gives great insight into utilizing tools that can keep you
focused and balanced in today's rocky economic workplace.
Too often books that are generated as guides to help establish
a career track miss the point. They have a tendency to develop
ways that become 'wishful thinking' concepts. However, Mr.
Butler's career guide is well put together and relates to day-
to-day job decisions. Students, as well as people already in the
work force, can learn from this.
Overall, this is a great book that can be used as a guide over
and over again. His personal experiences and his unique
observations, along with good research, have produced a very
serious guide. I highlighted several areas of interest on which
I will focus to assist in reaching more of my career goals.
I applaud Mr. Butler for writing a long overdue book that points
out ways to excel in the corporate world. CAREER TRACK OR SIDE
TRACK gives us the edge to face the challenges and achieve
excellence.

Tracking for success! This book reminded me of the common sense admonitions and practical precepts I got from my grandmother and the rest of the village that helped raised me. No matter what walk of life you prescribe to, you'll learn something from a book of this nature that is so well put together. It is an easy book to read consisting of only 135 pages, with nine thought-provoking chapters. The only drawback was the limited introduction, but more than make up for it with a well-designed and easy-to-follow dictum. This includes three appendixes with informational reference you can use. Butler comes up with timely nuggets of knowledge and the six career influence factors he believes that are vital to success are apropos and seem to give viability to the rest of the book Here are a few:
Determine your values and priorities early in life
List your life goals and objectives and implement a follow-through plan
Evaluate your personal strengths and weaknesses
Educate yourself and be well-read
Focus on being creative
You may look at that list and say to yourself, "Duh", but many of our young folk and older people haven't done a good job of making a good account of their lives. Lionel Butler should know. He has over 30 years of experience in military, government, and industrial organizations exemplary of supervisory and planning initiatives to give more than just a passing thought to career choices. So this summer while you're soaking up some sun, immerse yourself in this book. The author's rules and carefully illustrated references will no doubt help you make fewer financial mistakes, and career options for the right track!

A Classic in the Field
A great book about the Legendary Irish hero Cuchulain

A wee bit of great poetry
A poet/prophet with a broad and compassionate visionAlthough I found many of these poems obscure and hard to penetrate, I also found many of them haunting and beautiful. And many of the difficult poems opened up to me after additional readings. A mystical thread, as well as an attentiveness to nature, runs throughout this collection.
This book is rich in literary, religious, and mythological allusions. Yeats writes of war, death, grief, aging, love, and beauty. Many of the poems are quite musical--Yeats uses interesting variations in line length, rhyme scheme, poem length, and other effects.
Interestingly, I found the most effective poems in this collection to be those that deal with the relationships and encounters between humans and animals: the majestic "The Wild Swans at Coole," the tender "To a Squirrel at Kyle-Na-Gno," the haunting "On a Political Prisoner," the playful and mystical "The Cat and the Moon," and others.
Of course, there are many additional memorable poems in this collection, such as the deliciously satiric "The Scholars," or "The Second Coming," which has a real prophetic flavor. Overall, a remarkable volume by a significant figure in 20th century literature.

Traditional Tales from Ireland
A literate touch to classic Irish talesYeats is listed as editor of this volume but I feel that probably underplays his importance. The stories are not his invention, but it seems his writing throughout. The stories are well chosen to cover a large part of Irish myth and are well written. This volume and "Mythologies" show Yeats abiding love for the Celtic heritage that surrounded him.
I always enjoy Yeat's writing, from his poetry all the wy to his essays. This volume shows that he can have a masterful touch for myths.
The only shortcoming is that to the modern reader the language may sometimes appear slightly archaic or stilted, though this is rare and somehow seems to fit for a collection of legends.
The pictures are explicit and help to further reinforce understanding of the text.
